I think this might be my first time actually writing about MAN WITH A MISSION on the site. Not really sure how I haven’t got around to talking about them yet but better late than never right? Most of you I’m sure already know who they are by now but if you don’t know, they’re a pretty big Japanese Rock band…who perform wearing giant wolf heads. They’re not all style and no substance though, far from it in fact and new album “Chasing the Horizon” is no exception. Despite the band’s fearsome exterior, many of the songs included here are very heartfelt and melodic, oh and also sung pretty much entirely in English too! “Dead End in Tokyo” is a personal highlight for me, in part due to a line referring to someone as “The king of Kabukichou” but also because it’s just a great song. “Freak It!” which features Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra also went a good way towards sating my need for everything to include elements of Jazz lately so definitely check that one out too. I’m actually going to be seeing MAN WITH A MISSION perform live in Scotland of all places in a few weeks so if you’re going maybe I’ll see you there.
