Kudo-chan – Kimi to Ita Heya

I guess I really am developing a thing for singer-songwriters lately because along comes another one in Kudo-chan. She’s also a member of the Idol group poem apartment, so perhaps some of you are already familiar with her from that venture. She also holds the distinction of being a Miss iD finalist in 2016 so there’s some trivia for you there. “Kimi to Ita Heya” is Kudo-chan’s first full-length solo album and it’s pretty interesting. The majority of the songs are guitar driven and fall squarely into the Rock genre but it’s the vocals where things really caught my attention. Kudo-chan’s delivery is an interesting mix of talking and singing which will likely divide opinion but I like it for the sincerity it displays and it just feels like everything comes from the heart you know? There’s a bit of an Oomori Seiko vibe from the songs on this album, and I believe there’s some kind of affiliation there so that makes sense. I’m particularly partial to “Chiisana Sekai” and “Teikiatsu Kanojo” if anyone is looking for somewhere to start with this release.
