Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas – Greedy

Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas not only have a band name with a pretty cool movie reference but they’re also really interesting to me because I always wonder if the Idol group PassCode could take a page or three from their songbook. Anyway, “Greedy” is the latest single from the Kobe Electronicore group and it’s a bit of a tie-up affair, as are most things these days it seems. Both “Keep the Heat and Fire Yourself Up” and “Treasure in Your Hands” served as the opening themes for the “Hakyuu Houshin Engi” anime leaving title track “Greedy” feeling rather left out. That’s a shame as it’s a great high energy song with some cool 8-bit sounding elements that Fear, and Loathing like to dabble with on occasion. “Keep the Heat and Fire Yourself Up” sees the band experiment a little bit more, this time with Chinese inspired instrumentation and melodies. “Treasure in Your Hands” is probably the most conventional song on the single and that will be just fine for longtime fans. Indeed, Fear, and Loathing are rather good at taking their base sound and finding new ways to distort, remix and transform it into something new.
