And finally for this quarter we have a pretty interesting collaboration between Yuzuki, a member of Idol group Q’ULLE and (the majority of) the Japanese Heavy Metal band BLOOD STAIN CHILD. I was vaguely aware that this project existed for a while now but this is my first chance to actually sit down and check it out. “GENESIS” is the band’s first full-length album and they appear to be billing themselves as a “Metal & Hardcore project”. I’d say that’s a pretty accurate description of what’s on offer although there are several more melodic moments which makes sense because Yuzuki of course has a voice that can pull that off well. That being said, she certainly isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and provide some harsh vocals of her own alongside fellow band member SAIKA. “Serious” Metal aficionados will likely turn their noses up at this release but I thought it was solid and provided a nice amount of variety both in style of song and vocally. Maybe this is what people are talking about when they say they wish more Idol groups would “become” bands. I digress, “Roskill Lavender” and “Evil Game” are two songs you should all be checking out from this one.
