indigo la End are a band that I’ve always known about but never really listened to. I’m obviously trying to fix that now so I’ve been dabbling a bit in their back catalog. I guess these days they’re more known for Kawatani Enon’s transgressions, which is unfortunate because the guy is a really good songwriter…granted his voice probably isn’t for everyone. It’s fair to say much of indigo la End’s output is pretty melancholic, “emo” even and generally speaking that’s still the order of the day on “Crying End Roll”. However, you do notice elements of Kawatani’s other projects start to bleed into these songs a little which definitely gives things a fresh feel. Great hooks, tons of emotion, you just have to be able to separate the art from the artist. Something that a lot of people seem to have difficulty with these days.
