Guess I’m long overdue for one of these huh?
So yeah, this feature is a little bit late. So late in fact that it’s almost time for me to start working on my picks from Q4 of 2017. I don’t really have any excuses honestly. I’ve just been working on other stuff and this didn’t feel as important as writing reviews about stuff you guys actually come to the site to read about. I also kinda needed to save something to post while I’ve been in Japan for 3 weeks so it kind of worked out. Yay!
Anyway, for those unfamiliar with this particular feature, basically every 3 months I round up all the non-Idol Japanese music that caught my ear and I share it with you guys. I use it as an excuse to actually listen to non-Idol music and also to kind of challenge myself to get better at writing (not sure that’s working out too well). I write about a paragraph about each release, link a video so you can get an idea of what it sounds like and then shill my affiliate links and hope someone buys something. Hopefully you find something interesting that you wouldn’t have listened to otherwise. That’d be cool
To give you an idea of what to expect, my tastes are kind of all over the place. Jazz, Indie Rock, Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Metal, I guess I should have just said pretty much anything and everything. Feel free to critique anything I get wrong like genres and what have you but do it in a respectful way. I’m just trying to have some fun with this and not take it too seriously. With that said, let’s take a look at what interested me from July, August and September.
