The “singer-songwriter” genre of music isn’t something I tend to dabble in too often, but every now and then something interesting comes along and I make an exception. Enter Kaneko Ayano, hailing from Yokohama with her latest EP “Hikareai”. I would describe her music as a blend of Folk and UK Indie Rock if you’re insistent of labeling things, paired with a very wistful and at times almost playful vocal tone. This EP contains 3 tracks where Ayano performs with a band and the same 3 tracks again but this time acoustically. Fans of charming, nostalgic songs that make you yearn for bygone days should check this one out.
