Discovering new bands making cool music is a big reason why I write this feature, and “Nostalgic Shoegaze Indie Rock” 4-piece OLDTIMER certainly tick all of those boxes for me. The band’s latest mini-album “POP INTO MY HEAD” comes 5 years after the release of their first mini-album “Memory Lane” which I should probably go back and listen to if this release is anything to go by. Featuring colorful and yes quite nostalgic sounding Indie Rock with tinges of Shoegaze, this mini-album looks to mark the start of a new era for the band and I’d say it does that very effectively. From the cheerful, summery Pop tones of promotional track “Undine” to the immense, ethereal Shoegaze of closer “Nowhere” this band’s influences are clear for all to hear. While there is something to be said about wearing ones influences on ones sleeve, when everything is executed as masterfully as it is on this mini-album, it’s really hard to complain too much about it.
