Passepied – more humor

It has been interesting to watch Passepied grow and evolve as a band over the years, from their “Enshutsu-ka Shutsuen” album when I first got into them to where they are today with the release of the latest album “more humor”. While I haven’t always been in love with the directions they’ve taken musically I feel like they’ve been getting back to their best in recent times. Lead track “Graffiti” is a perfect example of this in my opinion, as are others like “Resonance” and “Hajimari wa Itsumo” but feel free to disagree. The album also shows off a softer side to Passepied with fantastic songs such as “ONE” and “waltz” which likely wouldn’t have featured on releases from years past, showing off the band’s maturity gained from 10 years working on their craft. This album acknowledges both where Passepied came from and hopefully where they are going in the future and if the songwriting and production maintain these levels of high quality it looks to be a very bright future indeed heading into their second decade of existence.
