Elfriede – real-Ize

While I might not be as obsessed with them as some people I know, I am partial to a girl band or two when the mood strikes me. Elfriede, a 4-piece founded in 2017, in particular are a fairly new one who have recently caught my attention with their debut album “real-Ize”. Their sound sees them combine harsher sounding guitar instrumentals with infectious Pop melodies which give their songs an intense energy while still retaining a very bright tone. Great examples of this from this particular release included songs such as the incredibly catchy “Starlight” or the foot stomping good time that is “Passion”. Both bring different things to the table but both styles featured here and the others incorporated throughout the rest of the album are executed with the kind of precision that you’d expect from a band 10 year into their career, never mind 2. Whether it be catchy guitar riffs or incredibly memorable choruses, you’re sure to find many of Elfriede’s songs lodged deep in your brain before long.
