Kinoco Hotel are a band that I’ve known of for quite some time and even saw live on a show with NECRONOMIDOL last year, but I’ve only recently started getting into their music (and I’m in really deep now). Perfect timing too, with the release of the band’s 7th studio album “Marianne no ougi” this summer giving me even more material to explore. I tend to agree with their billing of this one being “dancable Kinoco Hotel” as while the songs do retain a lot of the band’s signature Psychedelic Garage Rock sound there’s definitely a strong influence of both Pop and Dance genres on this release. Personal highlights from this release for me include “Nude”, “kinoko daimeikyū no akumu” and “onna to onna wa kaiten mokuba” but if you find yourself liking any of songs featured here than I can’t recommend diving into Kinoco Hotel’s discography highly enough. It’s pretty much fantastic from front to back.
