Ota Hina – Between The Sheets

As some of you probably know, I do like to feature some less talked about stuff in these roundups from time to time. 23 year old Ota Hina’s debut album “Between The Sheets” is one such example of this. The pianist has been playing since she was a child and has been composing her own material since the age of 15. The songs contained on this album are far from your standard piano fare however, as Ota makes use of all manner of instruments, loops, synthesized beats and more besides. As such this is a very broad album in its scope, though understandably for pretty much all of the songs the piano forms the basis of the composition. Personal favorite tracks include “Romance, “KachÅ«” and “Ai Subeki Bokura” but I would encourage you to give the whole album a try if you like the sound of anything that I’ve mentioned in this brief description. Definitely one for the piano lovers out there and also for those who like something a bit more on the experimental side.
