Aimyong – Shunkanteki Sixth Sense

I feature soloist Aimyong quite a bit in these roundups so if you’ve been following them for a while now then you’ve probably seen her name come up a time or two. “Shunkanteki Sixth Sense” is her second studio album and features singles such as “Mangetsu no Yoru Nara”, “Marigold” and “Konya no Mama”. Also included are several songs featured in the movie “Ashita Sekai ga Owaru Toshitemo” which released in theaters earlier this year. A singer-songwriter at heart, though since being picked up by Warner Music Japan Aimyong has also incorporated many elements of contemporary Pop music, Rock and even a bit of Classical into her sound over the past few years. As such her albums feature a nice variety of sounds, and “Shunkanteki Sixth Sense” is no exception on that front. Still very much sticking to her singer-songwriter roots however, and those sensibilities and style are a theme that runs throughout the album no matter what other influences may be being drawn on. I’m not saying there’s something for everyone here, but I think you would be hard pushed to not find at least one or two songs to enjoy from the album’s 12 track offering.
