Hirone-chan is a new discovery for me, and is one of the many rewards I’ve received for actually putting in the effort to follow non-Idol releases coming out of Japan the past few months. Her music probably isn’t the sort of thing that many of you would expect me to like, and I’d agree with you. Dreamy Pop songs that verge on sounding like nursery rhymes at times definitely isn’t my typical fare, but Hirone-chan has a pretty interesting voice…to my ears anyway. The production is a bit rough around the edges which has its own appeal, I’ve read people compare Hirone-chan to Oomori Seiko but I’m not sure I totally agree with that. I was somewhat reminded of Oyasumi Hologram at times though.
