Marianne Shinonome – MOOD ADJUSTER

As some of you might know, I’m rather partial to the musical stylings of the band Kinoco Hotel. So when their lead singer/keyboardist Marianne Shinonome announced a solo album was in the works I was naturally very excited. “MOOD ADJUSTER” while certainly featuring aspects of the Kinoco Hotel sound also has its own unique voice. Marianne’s unique singing voice is accompanied by a wide variety of vintage analog synthesizer tones and beats to make for a very interesting selection of songs. A much more collaborative effort than we usually hear from the singer, with several songs being worked on with Matsuishi Gel who is a big name in the Nagoya underground music scene. Also included are songs penned by Kamen Rider actor Handa Kento along with covers of “SE VOCÊ PENSA” by Roberto Carlos and “Goodbye” by Kon Yoko. If you like rich, experimental synthesizer instrumentals and warm, smokey vocals then I can’t recommend this album to you enough.
