Well, you all probably figured Melon Batake a go go were going to be on this list somewhere and here they are right at the top. 2019 was a big year for the group, signing to a major label, playing some pretty big shows and even going overseas for the first time ever. Their music also underwent a good amount of growth in the past 12 months too. It’s not just a Horrobilly fright fest anymore with the group pulling in several newer influences from genres such as Punk Rock and Country as they set about trying to round out their sound a bit more. This single is a pretty nice example of all of these things, containing plenty of the familiar while also introducing some of the newer stuff that I just mentioned. They might be pretty far from conventional, even by Idol standards, but there’s something special about this group and hopefully whatever it is continues into 2020 and beyond. Full Review
