I’m still honestly not sure what it is that I find so compelling about CHARAN-PO-RANTAN’s music, because to be totally honest I don’t make it a habit to listen to chanson beats at any other time. Perhaps it’s the fact that their folksy, lyric driven songs are so much different to my usual music consumption that makes them so fascinating to me. “Mirage Collage” is the sister duo’s latest full length album release and finding words to describe what it sounds like is still a difficult undertaking for me. Imagine a Folk group performing at a party somewhere deep in the countryside of Europe and you’re probably at least part of the way there. CHARAN-PO-RANTAN are an act that need to be experienced for yourself because there’s certainly no one else like them in J-Pop right now.
