macaroom, the duo of vocalist emaru and composer Asahi are probably one of the most enjoyed acts to feature in these roundups over the years. I’ve had quite a few people tell me how much they enjoyed 2018’s “swimming classroom” album so that’s pretty cool in my book. I mean, that’s the whole point of these things after all. Well the pair look to follow up on that release with a pair of singles which are rather simply titled “official bootleg (a)” and “official bootleg (b)”. The 4 songs featured across the two releases offer up the eclectic mix of different tones and sounds that macaroom are both known and loved for as well as continuing to explore just how much the way words sound when spoken can both compliment the instrumentals as well as add extra dimensions to their songs. Of the songs featured I’d recommend both “nemurini” from bootleg (a) and “walden” from bootleg (b) if you were asking me to pick favorites here.
