Japan is a pretty big place, with Tokyo being seen as the defacto hub for much of the country’s music scene. There’s many reasons for this of course, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the country isn’t producing some pretty cool acts of their own. Take asagaeri, a 3-piece Rock band from Aichi, Nagoya. They recently released their first EP “Suwareba Botan” and if you’re looking for some energetic, high tension tunes then I can wholeheartedly recommend a track like “INSTANT” with no regrets. If you instead want something with a bit more of a groove then look no further than EP opener “Rena” and I would be remiss if I didn’t also praise the unexpected tone and atmosphere that they went with for closing, and rather misleadingly titled, track “lunatic”. There’s so many different styles on offer over the course of just 5 tracks that I’m sure almost everyone can find something to enjoy here.
