Like many people, my first introduction to MAXIMUM THE HORMONE was the Death Note anime that originally aired many moons ago now. Their blend of Metal and drummer Nao’s Pop style vocals was something I had never heard before and haven’t heard replicated since, thought I’m sure there are other bands out there. I’ve followed the band for years now, well when they’re not on hiatus for one reason or another. Hopefully they’re back for good this time, with their “Korekara no Menkata Cottelee no Hanashi wo Shiyou” mini-album being their first release in a long while. It’s still the MAXIMUM THE HORMONE that I know and love, though guitarist Ryo is quite literally half the man that he used to be (good job dude!). Chaotic brutality with a side of cheese, you either love them or you hate them but they’re back. They also just signed with a new record label so I’m hopeful that an album is forthcoming at some point in 2019.
