Envy – Alnair in August

The thing I love the most about this feature is being able to go back and revisit bands that I used to listen to in my impressionable teenage years. Tokyo Post-Hardcore turned Post-Rock band Envy are one such example of this. Having had their ups and downs over the past few years, 2018 saw original vocalist Fukagawa Tetsuya rejoin the band and “Alnair in August” is their first release since his return. Featuring 2 tracks, one showcasing the band’s current sound and the other celebrating some of their most iconic output it blends the ethereal with apologetically raw emotion. Coming up on 30 years since their debut all the way back in 1992 the band appear to have put their recent problems aside and are firing on all cylinders. A new album is promised sometime in 2019 and I for one can’t wait to get my hands on it.
