Nara’s Split end are a girl band that I recently discovered while trying to sate my, what appears to be unending, need for new Japanese Indie Rock bands to listen to. “Yoru” is the second mini-album to be released by the 4-piece which dates itself all the way back to 2009 as a project created by some school friends. Stop me if you’ve heard that story before. Like I previously mentioned, they have a pretty Indie Rock sounding style but with a noticeable fuzzy, Shoegaze influence that pushes its way to the forefront occasionally. I’d say my personal favorite from this release would be track 4 “One Night” as it pretty much hits on all of the things that I previously mentioned. While they’re not exactly reinventing the wheel, I always have time for more music in this style so I’m cool with it.
