I’m not sure what it is about the “singer-songwriter”…genre, but for some reason it really resonates with me. I guess maybe it feels a little more genuine than the major label backed music, with a smorgasbord of production tricks that I often find myself listening to. In any case, Osaka’s Tokunaga Yuki and her first single “Kekkon wa Yameyou” certainly leave that impression of genuineness on me. The songs have a very emotive, from the heart vibe to them and there’s very little post production on the vocals which is a plus in my book but could perhaps be a negative for others. We also get both acoustic and electric numbers on this release which is nice because it shows off different aspects of Tokunaga’s songwriting ability and just gives some good variety in general. I also really love the opening section of the title track a great deal.
