Touyama Mirei – Dear My Boo

Okay, so I’m far from being an R&B guy but every now and then there’s a song or two that come along that I really enjoy. Touyama Mirei’s latest single “Dear My Boo” would certainly fall into that category for me. For a singer-songwriter who isn’t even 20 years old yet it’s hard not to be impressed with her vocal technique, although given that she studied both dance and vocals abroad in the US while in middle school then perhaps it shouldn’t be that surprising. This is a pretty nice little single, including the title track, and then two other tracks in the form of acoustic and remix versions of prior works. Perhaps a little bit more Westernized than what most people reading this feature on Japanese acts are looking for, but does it matter at the end of the day if the music is really good?
