A round-up of my favorite non-Idol releases from the first three months of 2018.
Oh hey, haven’t done one of these in a while huh? I’d apologize for this going up so late but I checked and this particular feature is actually pretty much on time given past outings. Gotta give it a few weeks after the end of each quarter to make sure I’ve listened to everything that seemed interesting to me ya know? Speaking of interesting, I still have no idea if you guys find these articles to be that or not so if you feel particularly strongly one way or another let me know. I’ll probably just keep doing whatever I feel like though, I’m just having fun here after all.
Anyway, if you’re new here you’re probably wondering what this particular feature is all about. Well, allow me to explain it for you. Basically I’m not just some huge dork who only listens to Idol music and nothing else. I’ll listen to pretty much anything honestly so now that you know that it should come as no surprise that I also listen to a bunch of non-Idol stuff that comes out of Japan. Unfortunately I don’t have time to write full reviews of everything I find interesting so I came up with this digest format so I can at least share some cool non-Idol music with you all. I appreciate that it’s not what most of you are visiting the site for but hopefully you can put up with these articles as rarely as I post them.
Getting onto setting up this edition of my non-Idol roundup, the first 3 months of the year were kinda quiet on a lot of fronts in the Japanese music industry. There was a lot of hibernating going on, so many of my go to acts didn’t release anything for me to check out. No matter! It presented a perfect excuse to check out a whole bunch of new stuff (which is also kinda the point of this feature too) and I think I found some cool things to share with you all. Some of it you’ll have probably heard of before but hopefully there will also be new discoveries too.
Once again, sorry if this isn’t really what you’re looking for from me. To be fair I post 4 of these things a year and everything else is pretty much at the very least tangentially Idol related. So have no fear, next week I’ll be back with a new review of a recent Idol release. Just like I do 40-odd weeks out of the year. For everyone else, let’s see what I found interesting from the first 3 months of 2018.
