I can’t imagine there being a more appropriate way to close things out than with more Shoegaze. The band in question this time is Yuragi, hailing from Shiga, and their first widely released mini-album “Still Dreaming, Still Deafening”. While being more known for playing a brand of uptempo, more Pop leaning Shoegaze, Post Rock opener “Horizon” and lead song “Unreachable” show that perhaps the band are willing to try some new things this time out. That being said there’s still plenty of Pop featured, with songs like “Utopia” or the reworked version of popular song “bedside” showing the band aren’t throwing everything out with the bath water. They’ve just turned everything up several notches, creating much more immense soundscapes than previously heard. Speaking of immense, near 11 minute closer “Path of the Moonlight” is an incredible experience. Building up from nothing then exploding into life with some fantastic guitar work before fading out and returning to where things started. Just brilliant.
