This iteration of the round-up kicks off with relative newcomer Asaki and her latest single “Moldy”. Information on the 19 year old is fairly scant but sometimes it’s better to just let the music do the talking. Title track “Moldy” sees Asaki joined by Hashishi from the group DENPA GIRL on vocals for what ends up being a pretty chill Hip-Hop song with a very nice flow. Not something I usual go out of my way to listen to I must admit but sometimes you find enjoyment in unexpected places. B-sides “Ghost” and “FizzY” while also very chilled out aren’t quite as Hip-Hop heavy which I suppose gave this single the variety that the 3 instrumentals were somewhat lacking. Don’t get me wrong though, they’re awesome if you’re into tranquil, flowy synthesizer arrangements. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on what Asaki releases next, that’s for sure.
