Natsu Summer – Natsu Summer & Dub Sensation

The fact that this roundup is going to feature a bunch of summer tunes in November is an irony that is not lost me. That being said, if soloist Natsu Summer releases new music I’m definitely going to talk about it…eventually. “Natsu Summer & Dub Sensation” is her latest album, featuring songs mixing the genres of City Pop and Reggae that are so close to the singer’s heart. While the idea of combining City Pop and Reggae might seem odd at first, it actually works very well in execution with the drum and bass borrowed from the latter creating a solid backbone on which the former is able to be woven around. This coupled with Natsu’s soulful singing voice and the album’s 7 tracks just seem to float by. The rather amusingly titled “Kimi wa Sexy” is my personal highlight from this particular release, although it’s perhaps not the most representative of what to expect from the album’s other tracks.
