MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS – No New World

Many people probably thought that the day would never come, but here we are in 2018 with a brand new album from MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS. “No New World” sees the band release their first full-length effort in 8 years and the reception has been…a little lukewarm to say the least. Those hoping for the noisy, distorted Shoegaze of the group’s early days are likely to be disappointed by this album’s more Indie Rock slant. After 8 years, an almost entirely different line-up and I’m sure a lot more life experiences I find myself asking what people were explecting really. Sure this is MotFD’s most accessible offering to date but is that a bad thing if the songs are all really good anyway? Maybe it’s just because I really enjoy Japanese Indie Rock but I have none of the problems a lot of people seem to have with this album. There’s still a good amount of Shoegaze to be had from the album’s 8 tracks too, you just have stop complaining and actually listen so you can hear it.
