Everyone loves a good farewell tour, well until it’s actually over and the people doing it aren’t really around anymore I suppose. Still, it’s a nice way to celebrate the time that they were with us and look back on the good times that we hopefully all had over the years. Or ya know if it’s an Idol group they just up and disappear overnight in most cases so the fact that we’re even getting this farewell tour of sorts in BiSH’s case is very much far from the norm.

The brakes on this train are fully disengaged at this point as well, with the group probably at least 3 or even 4 singles into their 12 single victory lap at the time you’re reading this article for their second one “Pyo”. What can I say, I’m trying my best to keep up but there’s other stuff I want to write about on the site too ya know? We’ll get there by the end though I promise you all that and yeah, I’m looking forward to the ride.

So the first single in this series “FiNAL SHiTS” played things fairly safe in my opinion, opting for that “Orchestra-esque” sound that people either seem to love or hate when it comes to BiSH. That’s fair enough I suppose, I personally don’t mind it too much myself but I am hoping that things will get a bit more adventurous as we go along here. We’ve got a couple more tracks to check out on this single and like I said, several more that I need to be getting to as well before too long so let’s cut to the chase here and see what BiSH have in store for us this time.

If you thought the first single in this series was lacking a bit of attitude and bite then title track “Pyo” should go some ways to making up for it here. Snarling vocals and a thunderous Punk tinged rock instrumental dominate the verses and bring another popular BiSH musical style into the fold here. The choruses on the other hand are a much brighter, more Poppy affair but still with a bit vibe to them to tie everything together. Very catchy too in their simplicity which I think was a pretty smart move given how busy the rest of the track was already beginning to sound.

It’s a bit harder to categorize the single’s b-side “HONESTY”, falling somewhere in between Indie and Alternative Rock in tone and doing a pretty good job of blending various elements from both genres together into a slower but still very impactful track. The vocal work settles comfortably into that raw, but still melodic style that BiSH appear to love so much and while the lyrical content might be the most riveting ever they do a decent enough job of changing the tempo over the course of the song to stop things from ever really becoming too tiring.

So another couple of popular BiSH song styles brought into play on this one then, and not too much overlap with the single that came before it either so color me cautiously optimistic that this might continue on for at least another couple of releases in this series. Pretty enjoyable on the whole for me personally this one, with a healthy dose of nostalgia being kicked up for good measure. Something that seems to be rather popular in music generally these days it would seem.

Off to a good start and the victory lap rolls on with yet more singles announced and a couple that I need to get to here before long as well. I’m sure we’ll probably get a bit of similarity cropping up eventually but so far I’m enjoying what BiSH are doing here and it’s nice to sort of look back with each release to the time where the various styles came from and again appreciate what we had and what we do still have, for just a little longer at least.
