A weekly roundup of the past week’s digital releases.
Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had an enjoyable festive period and that none of you are still feeling any adverse affects that may have resulted from it. Welcome to the first edition of Last Week in Digital for 2021, where we mop up what was left of 2020’s digital music releases and sprinkle in a taste of what 2021 has to offer with a few things from the first couple of days of the year. The scene never sleeps and considering the worsening situation in Japan currently, I would imagine that this digital trend is going to continue and probably grow a lot more over the next 12 months.
That being said, the past week was comparatively quiet when looking at the month or so previous. There’s still a decent amount of new(ish) music for you guys to listen to but definitely not the sort of volumes we’ve been seeing of late. A good week to go back and catch up on some things that you might not have had the time to check out over the festive period then I suppose! As always I’ve compiled as many releases as I could down below, with links to as many streaming platforms as possible so feel free to have a click through and see if anything catches your ear.
With all of that said, once again I just want to wish you guys all a Happy New Year and I hope that 2021 is a great year for us all. I’ll be back tomorrow and later in the week with my typical review content so I’ll hopefully see a few of you again for that. Hello and welcome to the last edition of Last Week in Digital of 2020. What a year its been folks, and for mostly not very good reasons but hey if we change one of the numbers on the end that means everything is going to be better right? A little bit of light cynicism there, you love to see it. In all seriousness though, I hope you’ve all been having a good time over the festive period even if it might have been a little different to how we all are used to spending it. Sometimes you’ve just go to make the most of and appreciate what you’ve got ya know?
So a ton of new music made its way onto the various streaming services last week, some of it new and a lot of it older by the look of things. I did my best to round it all up like usual though so even if it’s not new to you then it might be to someone else. A few familiar faces made the list this week but like usual there’s a lot of stuff from groups that I’ve never covered or ever really seen people talk about so in theory there should be plenty to get your teeth into like usual. It’s actually kind of insane how much has come out this month but I guess everyone is trying to get one last release in before the year is out for a little extra revenue.
Well then, there you have it folks. I’ll leave you to your listening and I hope that you find something cool that might otherwise have passed you by.
