I believe I featured FERN PLANET a couple of roundups ago and I rather enjoyed what I heard from the Rock 2-piece. They recently put out their second mini-album “Bokura no Traumerei” and seeing as I liked what they had going on with their previous release I figured why not check this one out too. I’m glad I did because from the opening chords of lead track “Illusion” to the Funk of “Matenro”, the robotic synths of “Tomodachi Robot Hokokusho” or the stripped back acoustic Ballad that is album closer “Yokogao” this release is pretty fantastic. There’s so much variety packed into its 6 tracks and though each have a basis in the Rock genre no two songs sound alike due to FERN PLANET’s willingness to incorporate additional sounds from a wide variety of influences. Definitely one for all of you female fronted J-Rock fans out there.
